PE Recruiting
I have heard mixed things from multiple recruiters regarding PE recruiting timeline. Does anyone have better insight than the below:
Option A) September for both the Incoming FT analyst class and A1
Option B) September for A1 and then down the road for the Incoming FT analyst class
Thanks
Bump would also like to know
Personally hoping for option B. Feel like it would make more sense for firms to use this as an opportunity to slow down a recruiting cycle that's been accelerating every year.
Hoping for option B as well
Am also hearing mixed opinions, but I believe firms are gearing towards option B, especially MMs which generally go after the MFs anyways.
Spoke with an MD at a PE MF who mentioned they believe Scenario B will play out. Says they haven’t even begun to think about hiring for A1 and it’s very unlikely they will combine recruiting efforts.
At an UMM so sure it'll vary from firm to firm but A1 talks have been brought up earlier this month internally, we'll probably recruit sometime this fall (TBD whether if its September or closer to December). Someone brought up the incoming FT class and the managing partner said its way too early to consider in 2021.
Can anyone give some advice on approaching PE recruiting from a less prestigious bank? I’m at a place like Lincoln/Stifel/etc.
On paper, everything else is really strong on my resume for PE recruiting. I went to a top ivy, have a 770 on my GMAT and a perfect ACT score, and have totally justifiable reasons for ending up at the bank im at (death of parent during recruiting, wanted to be in the city I’m in instead of nyc because of it), and have a PE internship at a well known UMM firm from my sophomore summer.
How can I give myself a shot at UMM/maybe even MF firms? I’m worried I won’t get any header hunter outreach so I’ll miss the boat completely. I’m totally confident that if I’m given a chance to interview, I will be able to sell myself to a PE firm, I’m just worried no one will even look at me because of my bank.
Did you try networking with people at the PE firms you want to work at?
