PE Transition

I’m at a MM direct lending / lev fin shop and am interested in switching to PE. Despite consistent deal flow with well know PE shops, seems like very few people switch to PE which is common for lev fin / sponsors groups at IBs. Was wondering if anyone had any insight into why this is (from credit or PE side) or stories of successfully switching.

Interesting post. From what I've seen it's mainly due to self selection - many folk in credit funds want to remain in credit, and the lifestyle / pay is pretty reasonable. Lev fin / sponsor groups in IB is still a sell side role with long hours, and people who go into these roles often do so because it is in essence an "IB" role and they have an exit in mind. If you're early enough in your career it shouldn't be a problem transitioning.

I'm actually thinking of going for credit funds - you mind sharing your recruitment path and what's motivating you to want to pursue equity investments instead?
