Petty and uninteresting e-mail format question

For some firms with [email protected] e-mail addresses. In this case Evercore...

What if there are multiple people with the same last name?

I am asking this because I found a banker that I want to reach out to (he is an alumni from my school, He has a decently unique last name, but just to be safe....) and I am afraid the e-mail will not get to him.

This is the most petty post I've written here.

Thanks guys.

How do you "ask HR" exactly?

Do you just email them saying "Oh I am interested in contacting _____ because they went to my school and I want to cold-email them about job opportunities but want to make sure I get the right one because their name is generic, will you help me?"

Somehow I dont feel like that will go over very well...has anyone tried this??

Don't ask HR. That is a legitimately retarded suggestion.

Just send the email; the only shops that use that email format tend to be quite small, so it won't be the first time that person A has gotten an email meant for person B, and they'll just pass it on. I know that I've sent emails in the past where that has happened, and no one found it odd in the slightest, though it might lead to a slight delay in responding. If you prefer to avoid this chance, then just call the guy instead of emailing him, though if you'd be uncomfortable with someone else reading the email, you shouldn't be sending it in the first place.
