PJT Strategic Advisory Groups

What are the best coverage groups/areas within PJT Strategic Advisory? Have heard media and telecom is strong, but would love to know about others like Tech and Healthcare.

Additionally, any info on recent exits would be appreciated. Are they on par with EVR/LAZ/MOE M&A?

Heard good things about their HC. Its also one of the groups where there is no generalist staffing. Exit wise should be on par but unsure on a per capita basis. Cant imagine any HH not giving looks to PJT m&a and know a guy that went to KKR.

REGL especially in Gaming

HC, they only do Pharma / life sciences but have done a solid number of mega deals Abbvie/allergan, Amgen/ horizon, vifor, Pfizer/Mylan. Recently hired the heads of Lazard and PWPs life sciences groups

Media Comms has all the bankers from Taubman’s MS gang and has strong deal flow as a result

Middle tier groups

Industrials (though they did GE, 3M and recently Smurfit). Recently hired EVRs Head of A&D plus the head of Citi’s Industrials group

Consumer just poached JPMs C&R head last year. Group didn’t exist before that

Tech/Software has traditionally been weak. Recently made a big hiring push in SF and hired EVRs Software head, some guys from LionTree, another MS mento banker

FinTech is also a good group

Everyone avoids power and insurance. Oil and gas has recently done a few good deals but mostly operates out of Houston

thank you, that was extremely helpful. another quick question, do you have any info on the Capital Markets group (what they do and exits)? saw a job posting and seems they are a part of strategic advisory, but recruit separately from the M&A teams, so was curious about what that relationship/dynamic is
