PLEASE HELP - Can I make it in?

If I go to a place like Penn State/Fordham/Rutgers/IU Kelley non IBW, what would my chances be of getting into the capital markets division of an international bank like SMBC, MUFG, Mizuho, Nomura, BNP Paribas

mizuho, smbc does OCR- on campus recruiting at fordham so yes. Source (current student). They take about 2-4 kids at mizuho and 2-4 kids at smbc

study up and stop posting impossibly dumb questions that a google search can answer -- you'll be fine. at your stage, taking school into account is only ever done by people who want to gauge how hard they should try. remove that from the equation. learn the ins and outs of capital markets because you want to, not because you went to a non-target and have to. in my experience, no one will bat an eye at your degree if you can put your money where your mouth is.

I truly have a passion for capital markets/finance, but my parents are wanting me to be a doctor because they think I have a "higher chance of being successful" in that field. I truly want to work in IB with all my heart, but my parents think that only HYPW kids end up in IB jobs, and id end up with a low paying job. I want to make sure that it is actually possible to make it from these schools, and im willing to work as hard as I can to make it happen.

This is a weird question... lots of people from those places have made it into BB IB, you just need to network. Those places/cap markets might be marginally easier but those schools give you very legitimate shots at regular IB at any bank.

Edit - I see your concern with the parents. Make sure they know recruiting has changed - they can interview people with Hirevue/Zoom now and recruiting is much expanded to almost every school, even complete non targets you've never heard of can get interviews. Maybe take them on LinkedIn and show how many IB analysts have come out of each school in the last few years. Even then, if you don't make IB you can easily slot into middle office or corporate finance at a big company, both of which will pay nearly 6 figures out of school.

currently at fordham - IB is so easily attainable it is not even funny how much flack the "non-target school" gets. Have 3.7+ and be semi-normal in networking calls and you are beyond fine.We have alumni at virtually every bank (except the EB'S)

when did i say everyone made it? What kind of comment is that ? Not everyone at Yale, Michigan, Wharton, UChicago, Dartmouth makes it too? Happens at every school. XD
