please help! deciding between 2 offers-sophomore summer

I have an offer for a decent boutique MM investment bank for investment banking as a generalist... somewhat formal program.. 3-4 interns training for first 3 days then a couple hours of training per week thereafter learning about valuation etc

The other offer is at a big bank, but not quite BB, for syndicated loan capital markets think formal, structured program.

I ultimately want to work in M&A or an industry coverage group learning valuation etc

Which offer to take?

If your ultimate goal is M&A / industry coverage group, I would say your best bet is the boutique MM investment bank. Syndicated loan capital markets is more in the realm of corporate banking so the experience is not as transferable.

If you are worried about the boutique MM internship being less structured, you can counter that by being proactive and asking the bankers around you for additional work, take on more responsibility, etc. Your experience over the summer is largely going to be determined by what you put into it. Always be proactive and try to learn as much as you can.
