Preparing for undergrad

Preparing for undergrad

Hello everyone, hope the holidays treated you well.

Wanted to get everyone’s opinion on any licenses or skills I should acquire before going for my undergrad.

Currently work as a teller at BB bank, saving up money for school. Have a couple of connections that I will start using once I reach undergrad.

I am looking at what you guys think will be most beneficial in preparing myself for internship recruiting. I am open to any licenses or other skills that will give me an edge.

For those who mention enjoying my time before becoming a corporate slave, I can honestly say that I have done so in my gap year and now I am prepared to focus on my career.

To specify I am mostly interested in wm, IB, and commercial banking. (What a surprise ik)

P.S. I understand that license or skills alone will not help me, especially for roles in IB, however I would like to have something on my resume freshman year that will make me stand out from the crowd in any sense.

I know it’s probably not want you’re looking forward but their isn’t much you can do going into undergrad that will benefit you for recruiting. What I tell people about to enter college is have a very clear understanding of what it means to succeed at XYZ University. This means get good grades, but also be aware of the clubs you need to join and when, and what it takes to join them. For example, go on LinkedIn and look at a kid going to the best bank you can find. That person will likely have all the clubs they’ve been in and stuff they’ve done prior to get to where they are. Make a mental note of this and strive to do the same. The kids who struggle the most are the ones who get behind the very fast timeline, so just be well aware of how recruiting works from your school. Best of luck and remember to have some fun in college
