Public Finance to Sovereigns

Currently work in public finance as a 2nd year analyst. At a good shop; I work on plenty of diverse deals. I’m finding it’s not exactly what I want to do. It’s repetitive and I think I could learn more than I currently am here. I have a masters degree in international development and was always more interested in working in that field. I worked on a green bond deal with the World Bank for a bit and the work was more interesting and fulfilling. I didn’t want to turn it into a full time job because I would have had to leave the US. I’m based in NYC and my fiancé is here for the long haul so I would like to stay. I suppose I’m looking for advice on if the transition from public finance to emerging market sovereign credit is possible? What shops are doing this in the city? I speak some Spanish because I’m latino but professionally is a stretch.
