PUI or Financial Sponsors Group in Barclays LDN?
I would like to know differences between these teams such as exit ops, if possible. Also, lifestyle, atmosphere, deal flow, prestige. Thanks a lot!

PUI is one of the top teams and very quantitative - Excel Monkey, FSG is very qualitative - ie PPT monkey.
Thanks for the response. Are you familiar with Barclays then? Although you become a PPT monkey, are you also able to develop your quantitative skills?
friend works there. FSG does nothing, LevFin does the models etc, coverage does the comps/industry outlook. You're just there preparing discussion materials for your seniors. Good if you want to cruise in banking with little hours and developping a network in Sponsor firms.
Are these supposedly some of the best for PE exits?
If you're planning to go to PE and have an another BB offer, I wouldn't take Barclays...
thats interesting, a couple of months ago you commented: "Anyone heard back from Barclays? Been weeks since I uploaded my CV...."
this comment is GAS
Both are great teams. Obviously PUI has the greater prestige but if you're not ready to focus on a sector then you could do a lot worse than FSG as Barclays is #4 in LevFin globally.
Are there any groups to avoid in your opinion?
I'm not in-depth familiar with our London practice, but with a gun to my head I would say we are not quite as strong in Tech as compared to practices like Consumer, Industrials, NatRes, etc. in general.
PUI are well-regarded in London. Worked across the table from them (they were on buy-side).
Seemed like they work in large teams with both London- and European-based bankers working together.
Seniors were very firm on a banker-to-banker level but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Juniors seem to get good exposure. Their mandate was decent, working for a credible buyer, on a mid+ cap deal so suggests good deal flow/ability to pick up interesting work.
