Purpose of Coffee Chats and How to End
What's the purpose of a coffee chat and how would you end one? Should you ask them to pass along your resume in the end or just say thank you and leave it like that?
Purpose is to gain information into the person, their firm, their path to their firm. Depending on the timing and relationship you could ask for a resume push, but if you start early enough you can benefit more from asking them to connect you with others and keeping in touch with them. Once you build a rapport and it gets close to recruiting season, then you can reach out for the referral. Just my $0.02.
spot on right here. I usually end them around 30mins depending on how the conversation is going. I'll send a follow up email with them asking for any contacts that might be helpful and thanking them for their time.
