Push back FT start date

About to graduate and start FT in July, but would like to delay ~3 months to October. I have a 'life experience' type opportunity that I probably won't be able to do when I'm older.

Has anyone here asked/negotiated a later FT date? Did it impair your reputation/learning curve later on (few months behind others in your class)?

Any advice would be super helpful. I really want to do the other thing but worried that it'd be a black mark/left without a job...
