Push Back FT Start Date ?.

Hello,

About to graduate and start FT in July, but would like to delay ~3 months to October. I have a 'life experience' type opportunity that I probably won't be able to do when I'm older.

Has anyone here asked/negotiated a later FT date? Did it impair your reputation/learning curve later on (few months behind others in your class)?

Any advice would be super helpful. I really want to do the other thing but worried that it'd be a black mark/left without a job.

thanks

This will be pretty hard to do at a BB.  Do you know what desk you're going to?  If you have that, maybe reach out directly to the desk and see if they can support you to start late.  My guess is that they won't have another analyst, but there's a chance to accommodate it.

Also, you obviously don't have to go into detail, but you should have a good reason to start late (e.g. something like backpacking through Europe with your friends isn't that compelling).
