Hi all - currently a FIG associate at another EB and I've been looking to lateral. I actually enjoy FIG and find the industry interesting, but culture and office politics at my group are awful. Would appreciate if anyone has any insight on how the culture is at PWP FIG!
PWP FIG is a very small group - I believe only 2 partners and 1 MD in the US. The group's particularly strong at insurance and reinsurance as well as asset managers and market infrastructure (they're Deutsche Borse's and NYSE's go-to advisor), and the MD is focused on InsurTech. Overall, I've heard that culture there is good, the seniors especially are on the chill side and are a lot more approachable/down to earth. They don't get a lot of volume, but they still get great deal reps from large-cap M&A to a lot of growth capital and raises on the InsurTech side. Some notable txns they did I can think of:
Was not in FIG, but had some overlap when I was there. This comment is pretty spot on - very focussed on the tech side of things... do a LOT for PayPal. Very lean, but nice team with genuinely good people. The Partners are great!
OP, could you share which EB has the awful culture and politics that you're referring to? Currently a FIG ASO at a top BB, looking to lateral to an EB, and would love to know which ones to avoid
