PWP Intro Call

Hi All,

I recently got an email from someone on the talent team from PWP saying how my referral email was along their way. For context, I sent a bunch of cold emails to people at the bank as I am trying to lateral. The person then scheduled an intro call with them later this week. Does anyone have any guidance on what I should expect for this call and any info / advice on this would be greatly appreciated!

For an intro call with PWP (Perella Weinberg Partners), here’s what you should focus on based on the most helpful WSO content:

  1. Purpose of the Call:

    • The intro call is likely a preliminary screening to assess your fit, interest, and background. It’s not a deep technical interview but more of a chance for them to get to know you and for you to make a strong first impression.
  2. What to Expect:

    • Behavioral Questions: Be prepared to discuss your background, why you’re interested in PWP, and why you’re looking to lateral.
    • Deal Experience: If you have relevant deal experience, be ready to highlight it concisely. PWP values candidates with strong deal exposure, even if some deals didn’t close, as long as you can articulate your role and learnings.
    • Cultural Fit: They may assess how well you align with their team culture. PWP is known for being selective, so confidence and preparation are key.
  3. Preparation Tips:

    • Know PWP: Research their recent deals, office culture, and team structure. If you’re targeting a specific group, understand their focus areas (e.g., TMT, A&D, etc.).
    • Your Story: Have a clear and compelling narrative about your career path, why you’re interested in PWP, and what you bring to the table.
    • Questions to Ask: Prepare thoughtful questions about their team, deal flow, or culture. Avoid generic or easily Google-able questions.
  4. Confidence and Communication:

    • Exude confidence without arrogance. As highlighted in WSO threads, candidates who are conversational, prepared, and confident tend to leave a positive impression.
    • Practice concise and impactful answers to common questions like “Tell me about yourself” or “Why PWP?”
  5. Follow-Up:

    • After the call, send a thank-you email reiterating your interest and highlighting something specific from the conversation.

Good luck with your call! If you prepare well and present yourself confidently, you’ll be in a strong position to move forward in the process.
