questions about IB internships in 2022/need some advice

I am in my last year of undergraduate and have got a postgraduate offer. But I'm considering a gap year because I'm an international student and if I come to the US in 2021fall, it is unlikely I could get a favourable internship opportunity.

What do you guys think? Is it likely that bb or other banks would like to hire more employees in 2022?

I do want to start my career in the US, perhaps NYC if I can change to a better university. My current target is IB, but who knows, it seems like tech/quant jobs are more friendly to international students. Well, I still wanna give it a shot anyway. BTW, some suggestions on getting summer internships would help a lot. I see many banks have already started the 2022 application process. The intense schedule really drives me crazy, need some hands out here.
