Random Discussion: Asian Female Analysts

I've been a longtime reader, but this is my first post.

I read an interesting post the other day about female analysts, and someone commented that most of the females at his bank were Asian. So here are just a few questions to spur what I hope will be an interesting discussion (just for fun):

  • Generally speaking, do you agree that most female analysts tend to be Asian? (IMO, I think it's generally true. Why are there so many anyway?)

  • What is the typical Asian female banker stereotype (if there even is one)? Do you think they're attractive? (In my experience, I've only encountered a few cute ones. Most of them have been average or below average.)

you want typical stereotypes? how about most asian females at top colleges are competitive with high gpas and an obsessive interest in pursuing a time-tested path (they dont engage in high risk/new ideas) toward American upper-class. Hence there have been many as IB analysts. But most of them will never become deal makers with relationship management skills.

There aren't many here in IB (In other departments probably, but rare in IB). In fact, while every one I have interviewed has nailed technical questions, all but one have lacked relevant experience or leadership & gave mundane, rehearsed fit answers (where it was pretty clear they weren't being themselves and were treating the interview as an exam rather than an interview).

holy shit guys. my school's in the U.S. and my previous offer was in London, U.K...hence my username. Go to any top b-school in the U.S. (the ones that actually matter. i.e. WHARTON, Sloan, and maybe stern) and you will see that 40% are Asian (all kinds of em) and the rest are Jews

Asian analysts I've worked with were uber-competitive and very very driven. But as already been posted, they lacked the social/inter-personal skills to really cut the mustard. They still did alright for themselves. They worked very hard, and the MDs loved them as the Asian 'machines' worked ungodly hours churning out flawless work with the minimum complaint. The same goes for the Asian guys as well, with the biggest difference being that the Asian girls were much much more macho than the guys.

Just my 2c.

__________ Just my 2c.

They seem like just heartless, overworked machines because in the end of the day they don't feel comfortable in a white man's world and hence can't form the leadership and dealmaking skills to rise to the top. they can't crack a smile often enough without looking/feeling awkward.

i am so over my asian obsession.

pursuing half spanish/half whatever and full spanish chicas from now on.

The world has changed. And we must change with it.

London: You successfully fuck things up for your fellow Jews; it's times like these I wish there were a way to kick people out of the tribe. Well done.

Edmundo: Hahaha...except now the Chinese don't want to have kids, and have a declining birth rate. Social planning fail.

I was really making a joke about the stereotypical disparity in genital size between the two cultures, not the "one child" rule vs. rampant breeding.

Man, a joke really isn't funny when you have to explain it.

Racial humor fail.

Funny though, because despite all this talk about how "heartless" they are, there seems to be some kind of Asian chick fetish among white males on Wall Street.

I second that.

monkeyfaceSounds like a lot of guys here have been rejected by asian girls on more than one occasion.

lol. yeah. But I swear that doesn't influence my judgement.

You didnt stand a chance; look what industry you're in, seriously. You might as well have gone on a movie studio forum and bashed jews.

Ha, I'm not a Jew but it just goes to show the maturity level and age of the people posting here.

Apparently maturity is defined by one's willingness to publicly acknowledge a well known fact: there's a lot of jews in finance. 3 out of every 4 people I work with are Jewish. If you're in banking in the US, most likely its the same situation where you work.

When I was in 8th grade: I'm at a party and everyone is sitting around and I notice this girl is inadvertently flashing her crotch. Since we're are circles up, half of the circle obviously is staring at this girls crotch, but none harder than this one particular kid. When someone else laughs about what kind of underwear she's wearing, as she embarrassingly crosses her legs, the kid who has his eye's fixated on her crotch begins chastising him, how he's immature and disrespectful. Everyone got really awkward like: why is this kid getting so serious and worked up?

Moral of the story is.... you really are a fucking tool. Its usually the clandestine scumbags that are most vocal.

Stop trying so hard to be so politically correct. Its people like you who really have a ton of underlying animosity towards other religions/ethnicities. You're so quick to jump up on a soap box and play the PC card to mask your own tendencies.

Truth be told, I may say a lot of shit about immigrants, minorities, people of other religions and nationalities; its cuz its usually funny.

Hey Asshole with No Name, by the looks of your writing level, you must still be in high school. So yea, almost 50% of this forum is more mature than you motherfucker.
