Rate this Job - Sophomore

Hi guys, I might have an opportunity at attaining the position below. I am currently a sophomore with experience at UBS doing cold calling. Given that I'll have the gpa etc to get banking interviews next summer, how much will this help? I am hoping to also get boutique ib over the summer.

PART-TIME ANALYST, CORPORATE STRATEGY AND MERGERS & ACQUISITIONS

[F500 - TMT] is currently seeking a 1st or 2nd year student to fill one Part-Time Analyst position within [F500 - TMT]’s Corporate Strategy and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) group. The position will be located in [Major City]. The Corporate Strategy and M&A group provides strategic advice and analysis as well as M&A execution capabilities to [F500 - TMT] and its subsidiaries, with the ultimate objective of enhancing shareholder value. On a part-time basis (any combination of one full day or 2 half days a week), the successful candidate will support the Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Mergers & Acquisitions through mainly administrative tasks.

This is an excellent opportunity that could lead to the following further responsibilities in the interim and potentially a role as a Summer Analyst. • Conducting industry research to understand economic and technological trends • In conjunction with the group’s Analysts, conducting detailed research for industry comparable companies and transactions • In conjunction with team members, preparing various presentations and analyses for [F500 - TMT] senior management • Coordinating with members of the team to keep all financial analyses up to date • Participating in the coordination of due diligence processes

The successful candidate must have the following critical skills and competencies: • Strong accounting, finance and economics skills as evidenced by strong academic performance in a finance-related degree • Strong and well-developed analytical skills along with an ability to make well-reasoned and appropriate conclusions • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills • Strong computer skills, particularly with respect to Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint • Strong organizational skills and an ability to manage several projects simultaneously • Fluency in Mandarin is an asset • Strong work ethic • Ability to work independently

Thanks

That's a subjective question, I would give it a 0/10 because if the group needs you for that sort of time, you would be doing little in terms of 'work.' But it's a 10/10 for networking, if you like M&A. Besides that it sounds like a typical intern job ... 'M&A Intern' is only as good as the work you are doing. Be sure you do more then push paper, make binders, and master the label maker. So, network.
