Recent Moelis NYC Exit Ops?
Hi all,
I'm an incoming SA interested in hearing about recent Moelis NYC exit ops. Obviously my focus will be earning the return offer and learning as much as possible this summer, but as someone who has had a long-standing interest in investing I'd like to gain a bit of knowledge about where the firm has exited to in recent years. The last two threads from on-cycle two and three years ago were informative, but are now dated. My goal is in no way to compare the firm to other banks or create some sort of competition, as I know that most exits depend on the individual after reaching a certain caliber of firm / one with more of an M&A focus. Overall, from the outside it seems like the firm is doing well considering recent M&A and RX engagements.
Anecdotally, have heard of some really cool exits from last on-cycle through the grapevine, as well as a wider variety of exits (Growth, Special Sits) than groups that tend to purely self-select for Buyout PE. Any information from actual Analysts / PE Associates would be greatly appreciated.
Am looking for a mature, knowledgeable discussion, not the input of college sophomores here hoping to rank exits. Please refrain from such behavior in this thread.
Thank you.
A few examples from last year’s class and this year’s 2nd year class:
- Apollo, Carlyle, Sixth Street, Genstar, Apax, AmSec, Centerbridge, Sycamore, Oaktree, LGP, etc.
think a few first years are going to Apollo, 2 at KKR, Permira, and others.
Pretty sick
bump. do you know where any other current nyc second years placed?
Are these on or off cycle?
Bump
.
Looks almost on par with GS exits.
They place better than GS ratio wise

There is another thread that covers where the current class of analysts is exiting to pretty comprehensively. Someone covered this in the thread already but exits are very strong because a) the analysts themselves are very strong and b) the firm has a strong reputation in the buyside recruiting game.
