Recruiting FT While Interning As SA

I know this is IB forum and I'm asking about PWM, but the question might be relevant. I landed an internship for this summer at a big name for PWM, but regional office. I'm trying to figure out how recruiting for FT positions in NYC starting the year after would work, would the timeline work out that I'd theoretically get offers from other places before the end of the summer? I don't want to be in a position where I reject a FT offer from this regional office (assuming I get one) in hopes of landing a FT offer in NYC and then get nothing. Anyone go through this before and have any advice? Thanks

You should be networking now (not to ask for a job or anything FT-related but to learn from people about their work, career, etc) with the firms that you want to recruit with for FT. By June/July comes you can update them on how your internship is going and keep the relationships alive. By the last few weeks of your internship, you then ask about FT recruiting needs and if you had done well with maintaining contact, they will probably keep you in their FT recruiting pipeline. FT interviews are all over the place so I can't guarantee that you could get something lined up before your internship firm's FT offer deadline but you could still improve your chances of getting looks from other places.

SA for S&T this last summer. Recruited FT for IBD. The timeline is not going to be as easy as you laid out. Most FT interviews don't start until Sept, when your FT offer is probably due. Offers start rolling in late Sept and Oct. This timeline wasn't just for covid, in my networking calls with others who went through a similar process during non-covid times, they reported the same timeline. I was personally very open with my HR person, and they gave me extensions, but I think that's probably unique. Honestly, you might have to consider renegging...
