Reference Backed Out What To Do

So I'm currently an undergrad with no previous finance work, and one of my references backed out after I got the offer letter. I talked with one of the partners at the bank about it today and he said that I can either convince the reference to be a reference again or send in another reference. Now, due to me not having other relevant finance experience as an undergrad, how would it impact me if I listed as a reference my supervisor for a suummer coaching job I had after my freshman year?

Have you had any finance classes? If you've had a good experience in a class or have a good relationship with a finance professor then I'm sure they would be happy to be a reference. I've definitely had professors help me in the past and for someone with no experience that may speak more to what you can bring then the supervisor of a non-finance job.

do what all college kids do...get a friend to pretend to run a business that has since folded, and give you a rec..that you write for yourself. nobody will ever know

just google it...you're welcome

Anyone who can attest to your hard work, reliability, and demeanor is fine as a reference, especially since you're young and haven't had a real job yet. Coaching reference would be acceptable, but you may want to prime the person a bit about what the job is so they can say the right things. If you're particularly close with any of your finance professors that is also fair game.
