ReGL Coverage

I left IB for REPE recently and I’m starting to think I shouldn’t have left. Saw PJT raised associate base to $250k. That’s just insane comp compared to REPE. Even if bony is only like 50%

I read some Citi comp figures and saw associates making like $260k - is the comp difference really this wide these days between mid tier BBs and EBs?

Most good REGL jobs are at BBs, so I’m curious what REIB comp looks like if anyone has any insight for BB/EB RE coverage comp

Are you sure about 250k base for associates in REIB?! If so, that’s insane. I’m also in REPE and the highest associate 1 base I’ve seen in the industry is up to 175k. That is the absolute max. Good base associate pay in repe would be 150k.

This thread is old. I am OP and have totally changed my tune.

IB pay is way down - such a boom and bust industry. REPE is also chill (many free nights and weeekends) compared to IB where they stay in office all night. Base is lower, but you just need to allocate a portion of your bonus to spending at year end. It’s nbd

Makes sense. If you’re at one of the few RE firms that pays very well, I’d agree. However, the majority of RE firms pay so significantly less than IB that, imo, maybe those extra hours and long nights in IB can be justified for the extra pay just because you literally may be making more than double. This is coming from someone who’s never done IB and has only been in REPE though.
