Restructuring Analyst Opps

Hey all,

Looking for some advice - this site has been helpful in a lot of ways, so hoping to get some feedback. Thanks in advance to anyone who spends the time to respond.

Background - fairly recent college grad (solid school, Gov major/Econ minor), average internships, athlete, have been at a Restructuring-focused legal services firm for the past ~1yr. My goal right now is to break into a Rx analyst role at a Rx-focused IB (or Rx group somewhere) in the near future. I’ve worked on some top Restructurings, have been busy and am learning a lot. So my Rx knowledge is very solid and excel skills are strong. I feel that the main technicals lacking for this type of transition are dense/practical Corp Fin knowledge and hard modeling skills (and no IB experience on the resume - so yeah some important shit). I have a bunch of resources I’m digging into to build my skillset there (Corp Fin, accounting & valuation conceptual stuff and then modeling-focused resources). The plan is to truly understand the key concepts and then practice building models until my eyes bleed.

Wanted to gauge off-cycle/lateral recruiting chances and timing at some of these Rx shops for an analyst role, and if that’s feasible considering the lack of modeling skills/IB experience mentioned above. Any other relevant anecdotes would definitely be appreciated as well.

Sorry for the novel and again thanks to any repliers.
