Ridiculous Comp- Analyst I

I got my year end bonus and I’m thrilled. I work in Dallas at a middle market bank, not industry coverage but product group.

I worked at a company my bank lends to abs joined as an A1 with a year of experince. My base was fine 100K. I joined the team in early April and got an annualized bonus of 130K and a raise to 135k base.

My boss says next year will be even better. Is this normal or did I hit the jackpot?

Do you have a very strong senior team that produce really good deal flow? I think MM generally pay pretty well in good years right? If we assume your group pulled in 30 million in fee (10 sell side deal avg 300m deal size) with 5 md total and 25 non MD personnel. Assume MD gets 30% of fee split among them and rent/operational expenses accounts for 30$/sqft/year at a 7000 sq fr so .21 mil and meal stipend at $40/employee per night so .4 mil and other exp like traveling/ utilities accounts for another 1 million just to be safe. That leaves 30*0.7-1.6=19.4 million on the table and split among 25 employees. Assuming vertical hierarchy, we have 5 directors 5 vps 5 assoc and 5 analyst. Each team of 5 gets 3.8 million, say director and VP gets 1 million and 800k each that still leaves 2 million on the table.
given this hypothetical scenario, I think I either underestimated the cost or the staffin is too thin?

edit: not M&A sell side deals since you mentioned product group, but not too sure what the firm economic is like for your MM bank’s team

I work at HL/Stephens Dallas and have friends at every somewhat reputable bank in Dallas an no one is getting paid like this. BS
