Roommate Search In Current Apt. (NYC)

Hi everyone so in short - roommate is moving out (wants a studio) and I (M) would like to find someone to fill the spot. Currently an IB Analyst 1 (about to be Analyst 2), graduated Spring '25 from LA, and have been in NYC ever since. Am pretty down to earth, enjoy keeping the apt clean/organized and am social. Some more info below:

Location: Midtown East (Turtle Bay)

Lease Start: July 1st 2026

Apartment Details: 2 bed & 1 bath, in-unit washer and dryer (separate machines), fully furnished kitchen, living room, walk-up on top floor (very quite with no upstairs neighbors), *Newly Renovated Unit* with brand new floors, walls, appliances, and cabinets with no flex walls

Rent: ~$2,700/mo

Happy to share pictures / get on the phone to further discuss, thank you!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, your post provides a solid foundation for finding a roommate. To increase your chances of success, consider adding the following details or tips:

  1. Target Audience: Specify if you have a preference for your roommate's profession (e.g., finance, consulting, etc.) or if you're open to anyone who fits your lifestyle.

  2. Budget Clarity: Mention if the $2,700/month rent is split evenly between both roommates or if there’s a different arrangement.

  3. Utilities: Clarify whether utilities (electricity, internet, etc.) are included in the rent or if they are additional.

  4. Room Details: Highlight the size of the available bedroom and any specific features (e.g., closet space, windows, etc.).

  5. Lifestyle Compatibility: Expand on your social habits, work hours, or any specific preferences (e.g., no smoking, no pets, etc.) to ensure compatibility.

  6. Photos and Tours: Offering pictures and virtual/in-person tours can make your listing more appealing.

  7. Contact Method: Ensure you provide a clear way for interested individuals to reach out, such as email or PM.

This approach will help you attract the right roommate while ensuring transparency and compatibility. Good luck!
