I don’t care whether it was a transgender woman, someone who was born a woman, or a man. If you’re surrounded on a dark sidewalk by a group of hostile people and one of them throws a drink in your face (which by the way, you don’t even know what is in it), I think it’s more than reasonable to assume that there was a threat to your person. There’s a big difference between this and randomly assaulting a woman.

What’s funniest is that someone went out of their way to MS the entire thread — it’s still a comical situation, even if you work for that firm — people should chill and get some perspective… don’t take yourselves too seriously ;)
It seems to have been a complex situation with several moving pieces and basically all parties fkd up in some way (pushing the guy and throwing unknown liquid in his face is also not a-okay…) — this put Moelis in a tough spot and now someone hired the guy for cents on the dollar… probably had the legal proceedings quadruple-checked & diligenced and came to the conclusion that the guy is not untouchable. Good to see that even if you fk up, you can recover — still makes for a good joke tho…… :)

The altercation happened because a group of “Queers For Palestine,” started hurling antisemitic insults and threw a drink on him. Kaye retaliated because it was a dark night in Brooklyn and he had no idea what was in it. Fight or flight response.

My guess is he is a solid banker who has a real book of business
