Rothschild UK - Mining & Healthcare 2026

Looking for info on both groups - size, structure and overall deal flow. A few threads on this site mention that the healthcare group is top tier - can anyone confirm? Also curious about their mining team, i have heard stories about crazy hours but keen to hear more recent feedback, especially deal flow and comp.
Thank you in advance!!!

Healthcare is very strong and has been for a long time. Good exits. Does a lot of volume (given Rothschild is ultimately a volume shop so makes sense) so hours can be tough but it rewards accordingly.

Mining I think is one of the smallest teams in the bank - which figures as other than the Canadians, every bank has largely merged their mining teams to be part of a broader business. Has a good track record in project finance so a different proposition to healthcare - in mining you may close one or two deals in 3-4 yrs as project finance advisory takes a long time and they don’t do that much M&A from what I am aware of.

Healthcare you are practically guaranteed to close materially more and it will be M&A vs project finance. Hours you are right can be demanding - I think there’s a thread from 1-2yrs ago on Rothschild mining which covers it. A few have gone on it seems to other banks from LinkedIn whereas I’m not sure that’s the same for healthcare (I think they move directly to the buyside).

It’s just a different proposition - one of the largest and highest revenue generating groups focused on M&A, versus one of the smallest that has more of a project finance advisory focus. Sector dynamics are very different too partly driven I guess by same dynamics as above: healthcare is huge, mining is small. Two very different sectors ultimately so really all depends on what you to do.

At junior level I believe comp is all on a grid so just whether you can place high enough / your team can demand high enough…

Have friends and family who have worked there / still work there but not been opposite or used them as an advisor. Hope this is of some use.
