SA 2021 and SSN Application during COVID
I'm an international student and will be working as an IB SA (NYC) this coming summer. My bank requires me to have an SSN card to start work (though according to this, it's legal to start work without an actual card). With COVID, it's been extremely difficult to get an in-person appointment, and I think there's chance I won't be able to get my SSN in time.
Question is, what happens if I don't have an SSN before the start date? How will HR work around the problem? HR has not been very helpful so far.
Would appreciate any insights from international students who have applied/are applying for SSN during COVID. TIA!
