same as the US, plus many banks give you a housing stipend ( well they do in Hong Kong) and lower tax rates (also in HK)

Even though you get a housing allowance in HK and probably the same base salary as in the US of 60 -65k......I would imagine the bonus in the US is much higher than HK. Hence everything put together...the pay in the US might still be slightly higher.

Could some body comment on the bonus in HK for BB - IBD ?

jesus f'ing christ....ppl have got to stop talking abt stuff they know nothing about...what's the point? to show that you "might" be right if u guess correctly? u just drive away the actual ppl in the industry who shake their heads at this random guessing,...

i've worked in the US and i'm in hk now...for analysts, the base is the same, the bonus is the same, and u get housing, and if u're american, then u pay only local taxes (in hk its approx a flat 16%) for the first US80k (expat US tax exemption), and u pay the US level on the rest...so no, clearly the all-in comp is higher in HK now isn't it?

I've heard from training with hk folks that it is the same compensation - with less taxes. Cost of living in hk is pretty high though if you live on the island
