I work in Corporate Banking at a very large bank, and have never seen them in a single deal - even at the lowest commitment tier

I have a friend of a friend who is the head of the capital markets division at santander and might be able to hook me up with a FT position here, but I hadn't really heard anything about capital markets at Santander, or any major European bank for that matter. Does anyone know how they stack up vs. other Euro banks and US banks?
Does it matter? A jobs a job, if you have long term goals in the industry this might be a good starting point if you have nothing else.

In general.
I know some general info: they have a decent-sized focus on the corporate sector, and specific industries (TMT, financial sponsors, industrials, and energy) - of course, this means dealing w/ loans and not necessarily their IB activities. Personally, I've seen them on the bottom of a couple of our deals, if any at all.
However, I would shy away for now due to the recent news (departure of major executive), and losses. And if you follow the news, you'll know that it's not necessarily a good time to be in Spain/work for a Spanish bank :)

Of course :) Any experience helps, corp fin as well - Santander is a huge bank don't get me wrong, but just not as big as it is in Europe.
