Santander LevFin becoming top group?

Seems like Santander LevFin is doing really well with consistent deal flow including multiple lead lefts in the past months. They’re also on marquee deals with other top LevFin banks like OpenAI. I heard they hold pen on the model and have a pretty good junior experience. Can they really recreate the past CS Levfin glory and become a top3 Levfin group on the street? Anyone knows what their hours like? Are they taking laterals? Their logo is shitty tho. Kinda ruins LinkedIn aethetics

an1 in the group, pay is amazing so there is good talent and we are doing well. Santander in general could come up in the next 5-10 years with all the money they have.

Shill post.

Santander often not lead left.

Don't get me wrong it's getting better but certainly isn't a leader.

"Santander often not lead left"

lol, isn't that what I said? The majority of their deals are still on the right. No one is saying all of a sudden they are doing only lead lefts

Really? Where did you say above that most were on the right?

Nobody is hating bud. Let's just keep things in perspective.

On the more positive note - I agree always good to be in a growing franchise.

They are definitely improving on the sponsor and levfin side. At least they are getting on the right now, they were nowhere on the term sheet. I think the number of lead lefts is exaggerated here, they are not often leading any deals and are not a top LevFin franchise point blank. Yes, it's improving, but let's call a spade a spade. For what it's worth, from my friends at both UBS and Santandar:  both banks have markedly improved in terms of sponsors and levfin work. The strong reputation for CS sponsors and Levfin was deserved.

To answer the second part of that question, in terms of becoming top 3: most likely not. UBS started at a stronger place reputationally before the merger and even with their hiring of pretty good LevFin and Sponsors' names they haven't been able to get the top 3(they are in the 4-6 range in terms of leads for sponsors), kinda doubt Santadar can do much better given A) weaker name/team initially , and B) For better or worse, UBS is still historically considered a BB that focuses primarily on sponsors activity whilst Santandar isn't.
