Santander (NYC) vs. Truist (NYC or Charlotte)
Hi all, in early stages of IB analyst recruiting. I have connections at both Truist and Santander.
Which bank would you say is better?
What groups are strong at each?
Where do analysts at each typically exit to?
Truist at least has a history of doing deals from the NYC office. Santander does not. So I chose Truist.
Depends on which Truist CLT team. TMT is extremely sweaty run by old WF bankers. Heard great things about the consumer team at Truist.
Is this for the lateral positions?
Move from Big 4 TAS
Santander recently picked up a lot of Credit Suisse IB talent. I would definitely say they are on the upswing
Any insight on the strong groups? How is their sponsors group?
CS had the strongest sponsors group and Santander took some huge names after the fall so should be very solid
Depends on the group esp for santander bc of cs rainmakers
Do you have any idea what groups are strongest?
Their lev fin and fsg should be strong but not sure if they will be hiring they also brought juniors with them
Unless it’s consumer retail Santander hands down open and shut, I’m surprised people on here seem to think the two are even comparable
