Screwed for Investment Banking FT?

Hello WSO,

I need your help.

I am a Junior at a target school. I have a Sales & Trading offer from (GS/JP/MS), and it expires soon!

If I take the S&T offer, am I screwed for IBD full time? I do not want to do S&T Full Time.

It is only first semester here, so accelerated applications only went by. Next semester (starting January) is when normal recruiting starts.

What should I do? Please tell me if I will be screwed for IBD full time if I accept S&T now? Please tell me if you think I am better off recruiting again next semester? I do not believe I can get IBD at a Bulge Bracket. I have a 3.3+ cumulative, and a 3.7+ sophomore year (this means i got sub 3.0 in freshman year).

Please help me out? I feel like I may make a wrong decision.

Thanks!!

Thanks CHItizen , I think you are right I can have a story, but so many people are telling me that I will hardly even get looked at because I am in S&T.

I know that S&T is amazing, but there are many people telling me I am better off taking any type of financial analyst role VS. taking S&T---- If my end goal is IBD full time

What do you think?

Are there better internships to position you for IB fulltime? Sure, there are a variety of them, including IB internships. That being said, S&T internships aren't necessarily a bad step to take (especially if you can figure out how to pump your network). The question is whether you're going to get those internships more relevant to IB, and whether taking that risk is worth burning your offer already in hand. It's a pretty good offer, and I'd honestly lean toward taking it.

Also, I know it's possible to go from a S&T internship to IB full time for a fact - have 2 friends who have done it, so it's certainly possible.

Are you kidding???????? Take S&T, you'll be at a top BB and network your way into IB. Being in a different group does not signify END ALL to all IBD opportunities. It can be done and it has been done. Don't take some other shitty job because some idiot is telling you by taking S&T you will have no chance.
