Screwed for RX SA 2026?

Hi guys,

Sophomore (Target) here looking to break into restructuring. Read through all of the rx guides and two books on levfin, pretty confident on nailing interviews. However, so far getting only 1 interview. Heard most rx shops already sent out superdays. Prolly cuz I only spoke to ~10 people, but trying to catch up by sending 20 emails a day. Am I screwed, or do you guys think I still have a shot at a RX role? Any advice will be greatly appreciated...

Based on the most helpful WSO content, you're not entirely out of the game yet, but you need to act fast and strategically. Here's what you can do:

  1. Ramp Up Networking: Sending 20 emails a day is a good start, but focus on quality over quantity. Target alumni, professionals at RX boutiques, and anyone with a connection to restructuring. Personalize your outreach and follow up diligently.

  2. Leverage Your Current Interview: Even if you only have one interview lined up, use it as a learning experience. Prepare thoroughly and try to build rapport with the interviewers. Even if it doesn’t work out, they might refer you to other opportunities.

  3. Expand Your Scope: If RX-specific roles are drying up, consider applying to broader LevFin or distressed debt roles. These can still position you well for RX in the future.

  4. Focus on Smaller Firms: Many smaller boutiques or regional firms might still be recruiting. These can be great stepping stones into RX.

  5. Keep Networking for Junior Year: Even if sophomore summer doesn’t work out, the relationships you build now can pay off for junior year recruiting. Follow up periodically with updates on your progress.

  6. Stay Persistent: Recruiting is a numbers game, and it’s not uncommon to face setbacks. Keep pushing, and don’t let the early superdays discourage you.

You still have a shot, but time is of the essence. Good luck!

Had a similar thing happen to me last year - ended up getting a bunch of interviews. Just crank out as many emails as you can that express genuine RX interest. You've done all the work, don't let it go to waste because you're too lazy to power through emails...

Thanks for the advice. Do you think 20 emails a day is sufficient? And do you think the format of the emails matters?

Similar to me

Write as many emails as you can and you will get interviews

This is especially true in Rx b/c your competition can get dinged with one incorrect question paving the way for your opportunity

Thanks! What should I do if my contact stopped responding to me email? The calls all went suberb
