Screwed up on first staffing as An1
Hit the desk last month and was staffed on an internal thing. Granted my attention to detail was terrible… tried my best to turn things around but kept making mistakes. Associate probably thinks I’m stupid AF.
Since then haven’t gotten much work at all… had short staffing here and there and have done well on them. Good feedback since the first staffing but can’t help but feel like I ruined my reputation in group.
Some other analysts are staffed on live deals as their first staffing while I’m stuck doing internal shit. Don’t know what to do.
Any advice / perspective would be helpful.
one bad first staffing doesn't stick. reps get set over your first 6 months, not your first 6 weeks. associates barely remember the project, they remember the trend - and your trend is already good feedback on the recent turns.
the one move that speeds it up: ask the associate directly what to focus on next time. not an apology tour, just "what should i do differently." asking reads as coachable, and coachable first-years get second chances. internal vs live deal this early is mostly staffing luck, don't read into it.
