Seeking Guidance on Investment Banking Career Path After London Internship Setback

Hello WSO Community,

I am currently navigating my career path with the goal of breaking into investment banking. Unfortunately, I did not get an internship in London, and I'm seeking advice on the next steps to enhance my chances.

To provide some context:

  • I'm enrolled in a reputable European school, comparable to institutions like Bocconi and St. Gallen and am now in the last year of my undergraduate studies.

  • My academic performance places me in the 99th percentile of my class.

  • While I have previously interned at a BB in my home country, it wasn't in investment banking.

  • I actively participated in an international case competition through my university's consulting club.

  • Currently, I'm on an exchange semester in Asia, where I worked with an investment fund as part of a school project.

  • I have received scholarships for academic excellence and for my exchange program.

  • This winter, I secured an internship at a local M&A boutique, adding practical experience to my profile.

I would greatly appreciate any insights.
