Serial bank hopper??

Saw this persons profile on LinkedIn and I have to ask…. What could be the reason for this series of bank hops.

  • MBA Summer Associate at good MM bank
  • Full time Post MBA Associate at HC specific MM/boutiquey bank - 1 year
  • Lateral to a bigger yet less reputable bank (non BB) ~ 1 year maybe less
  • Lateral again to MM bank - work for less than a year. Maybe 6 months
  • ANOTHER lateral to different MM bank. Been there for a few months

This is all at the associate level. Anyone know why anybody would do this? I can’t imagine there is any significant difference in comp from one place to another. Also don’t understand lateraling for “name brand” as all the banks are about the same tier. I also was under the impression you don’t necessarily get fired all that often in banking unless you are atrocious at the job since they need talent (maybe I’m wrong about this). And if fired from each bank, I would assume you wouldn’t be able to get any sort of good referral to the next bank?? Am I missing something? 5 banks in 5.5 years seems excessive
