Series 79 Kaplan Incoming FT Training

Kaplan is running a 3-day training session at my firm in order to prepare us for the S79 exam. How does that work? Seems like there's a ton of material to cover. Is it expected that we are studying for the weeks leading up to the program? Would really appreciate some insight. Thanks!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what you need to know about preparing for the Series 79 exam with Kaplan's 3-day training session:

  1. Pre-Training Preparation:

    • It is highly recommended to start studying weeks before the training session. The 3-day program is intensive and covers a lot of material, so having a solid foundation beforehand will be beneficial.
    • Utilize resources such as Knopman's videos, workbooks, and Kaplan's QBank to familiarize yourself with the content.
  2. Training Session Structure:

    • The 3-day training will likely be a mix of lectures, practice questions, and review sessions. The goal is to reinforce your understanding and clarify any doubts.
    • Expect to cover key topics such as the big 5 (BD, Agent, IA, IAR, Admin) and State vs. Federal regulations/jurisdiction.
  3. Study Tips:

    • Create a study schedule leading up to the training. For example, aim to cover one chapter every two days.
    • Write notes and answers next to the respective sections in your study materials to help with retention and quick review.
  4. Practice and Review:

    • Practice with Kaplan's QBank and compare your performance with benchmark scores. Aim for mid-80s to low-90s in practice tests to ensure you're well-prepared.
    • Review any incorrect answers and understand why the correct choices are right.

By following these steps, you'll be better prepared to make the most of Kaplan's 3-day training session and increase your chances of passing the Series 79 exam.
