Set to begin military service and will return to school 2022. Advice needed!

Dear WSO,

I'm an international student based in Korea and I'm set to begin military service next year. I'll be returning to school in 2022 September and will be applying for SA positions the following year. In my spare time, I'd like to build some meaningful amount of knowledge in the financial industry and hopefully prepare for technicals as well. Ordered the latest version of Rosenbaum book, and currently reading Barbarians at the Gate. 

What would be the best way of spending time here in terms of preparing for IB recruiting? I'm thinking of reading Rosenbaum thoroughly to understand the industry and practicing valuation modeling. Plus, I'll be taking CFA lv. 1 exam in November next year. Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated!
