Should Have I Not Said This? Help

I have already received an offer from company A. However, I am really interested in Company B, and am currently waiting for their response. So I called the recruiter at Company B asking for a possible time frame of when he will get back to me. He replied saying some time next week. I impulsively/mistakenly said that I have an exploding offer, indirectly stating that I don't have much time. Right after that statement, I strongly indicated that I was really interested in this opportunity with his company. He said he'll try getting back to early next week or so.

Did my loud mouth say something wrong? How could he portray me as after me saying that?

It sounds exactly like you laid it out. You implied that while you have an exploding offer, you would rather work at Company B. He said he'll see what he can do. Seems pretty cut and dry, I would just wait it out.

My name is Nicky, but you can call me Dre.

Did you record the phone call? That's what I always do and I play them back ~20 times so I can really analyze it thoroughly.

^ Lol.

I'm going through the same thing, actually. The shitty thing about my situation is that I've already accepted an offer from Company A, but it's not IB.

I know there's etiquette involved and things like "don't burn bridges," but I'm still holding out for Company B.

Company B told me they're still reviewing/interviewing people.

Damn. Basically a no.

Good luck, seville. Let us know how it turns out.

No you didnt do anything wrong mayne. Companies get jealous of each other (srs) you probably helped yourself

I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

Nothing wrong with that. Smart move actually.

Adding onto my advice from earlier: It would be wise to say you got offer(s) from Goldman Sachs/UBS/Moelis/KKR/TPG or another prestigious firm but if you do this MAKE SURE TO say you would prefer this offer over those offers. I have done this almost every time they asked me about offers, and it is extremely effective. PM me if you have any questions.

HAHA FUNNY! UBS prestigious?! lmao good one sir...bankers there are now junior to the Wealth Management advisors. Top wealth platform, but lack of banking side now

Chill, brah. I was in a similar spot for S&T in February. So they put me in an earlier super day, and gave me the offer by the time I arrived at the hotel. Banks are very accommodative about this stuff - they know other banks try to scoop up the talent with asshole exploding offers.
