Should I accept?
Alright, so I just wrapped up my Freshman year at a non-target; I have a 3.80 GPA, and I will be interning in Washington, DC this summer at the US Treasury. Anyway, there is another internship in "data entry", and they are looking for someone during the evening and weekends, anyway, would this be a good opportunity or not?
I am looking to break into IBD, so I was just wanted to get some opinions from you guys.
Thanks in advance for your input.
Where is the "data entry" position located? Hard for us to give an opinion without clarifying.
The data entry position is also located in the DC area.
You need to be more specific man. You could be doing data entry at a Payless shoes for all we know. Anyways, the treasury gig sounds nice. I would do it. You are only a freshman and it definitely will give a sexy touch to your résumé. You would have to go for something finance relate next summer for sure though but for now this is really good.
I didn't mean in terms of geographic location, but where as in what type of entity? Are you working at a bank? Some guy's basement? An OBGYN?
Assuming the Treasury gig is finance related, it would be much more relevant than doing "data entry".
Oh, lol.
Alright, I am 100% doing the Treasury iinternship, but I want to do two internships. The data-entry is for some accountant, and I am supposed to be inputing data into a spreadsheet for a project that they are working on for a small business.
100% the Treasury internship.
I am doing the Treasury iinternship, but I just wanted to know if I should do this data entry internship on tye side.
The simple answer would be, why not? However, if you aren't getting paid, I would save your time and learn modeling and excel from one of the various methods that have been listed on this site (BIWS, Rosenbaum/Pearl, etc.)
It's $15 an hour, so it's not bad. However, I don't think the $15 outweighs the knowledge I'll gain through financial modeling. I've already signed up for BIWS's modeling course.
If you want the money, take it. If not, tool around with the treasury guys and have a good time. Summer in DC is a lot of fun.
You are only a freshman... Don't get too far ahead of yourself.
