Should I be persistent or move on after a great informational call?

I feel a bit silly asking this, but I'm unsure about how to proceed after a great informational call. Two months ago, I had an excellent call with a VP in a coverage group at a bulge bracket bank. For context, I'm a class of '23 graduate, currently in a non-IB finance role.

The call was scheduled for 30 minutes but lasted an hour. We connected over our shared experiences as immigrants, similar college backgrounds, and common hobbies. After the call, I sent a thank-you email. Earlier this week (on Monday), I emailed him again asking if he had time for a mock interview and prep session since he recommend we do that as we get closer to summer. So far, I haven't received a response. I know it's been a busy week with mid week holiday. He mentioned that his group is planning on hiring an analyst at the end of the summer which is also why i waited for 2 months before i did.

I'm typically persistent, which is how I initially got him to respond and set up the call. He was helpful during our conversation and provided good advice. I can see from my email tracker that he opened my latest email once but hasn't replied.

My questions are: What's an appropriate time to follow up? Should I continue being persistent or move on? Where do you draw the line between being appropriately persistent and pushy in networking situations like this?

I understand that people in banking are busy, and I don't expect them to owe me anything. However, I've read about the importance of persistence in networking and everyone i get on a call with say the same thing so what should i do?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I’d follow up once more on the mock interview request but give up after that and move on

Also turn off read receipts…that turns some ppl off

Thanks, I will do that. It's an external service, Mailtrack, so they shouldn't be getting the notification. And might just be the way I was taught, but I feel guilty asking them for more time to do a mock interview without adding any value for him. Is that Valid?
