Going into my junior year and I have the option to do either Corporate Banking or Municipal Finance, which of these would be the better option if I wanted to try and lateral to IB or try at FT recruiting, also does anyone know around the pay range for either of these roles?

Municipal finance is public finance which is IB isn’t it?
IB transfers to IB well, just will have to explain why you didn’t like the product
Isnt corporate banking IB also?
No, Corporate banking is investing in investment grade companies via debt

Is corporate banking bad? should I try to switch to Municipal finance interview or is it not that big of a deal.
Not at all! Its literally investing in companies on behalf of the bank. Less hours and good WLB, but also good work.
Assuming Municipal Finance is their Muni IB or PubFin IB team then do that 100%. Pretty easy to move IB -> IB and even easier if you can do NFP HC, P3/Project Finance, or transportation.
