Shout Out For Help!
I moved to the U.S early in 2020 and currently working for a boutique that started the new practice to explore opportunities in distressed space in 2020. I have had a decent experience in my home country, but I had to start afresh after coming here. We are a start-up and a small team. It's been almost a year, and I have no life. I am in a new country with not much family or friends; the only interaction I have is with my manager, who has unrealistic expectations and does not appreciate even 70+ hours a week. I know investment banking culture is demanding, and I should ask no questions. At this moment, my health is taking a toll and I feel very depressed. Covid has anyways reduced the opportunity of having human interaction and chance to seek any external help. I feel helpless; being in a new country, I need to pay my bills and fear losing my job or having a bad impression of short tenure on my resume.
I like my work and have always been hardworking and dedicated about my job, but the pressure and thanklessness element is beating me down.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Any advice would be most welcome. Also, can you suggest exit options from Investment Banking?
