Skipping Sellside?

First-year at college in London here. Managed to get a top BB IBD SA offer alongside a top L/S multimanager SA offer, both for next year. I've decided to go with the hedge fund offer and will hopefully get a return offer for full-time in London. I'm an American citizen so might be able to go to NYC offices after a while but definitely enjoying LDN so far so will probably stay a bit. As I'd be skipping a sell-side stint, I wanted to know if there's anything I can do to try emulate some of the skills/frameworks you develop by doing a sell-side stint and if I should rethink taking the hf offer. Thanks.

Unrelated but do you mind sharing some tips that got you that hedge fund offer? I will be a freshman this fall so I just want to explore careers before deciding on a path.

If you are happy with the HF and you see yourself in that industry in the LT, then who cares about sell-side skills?

I started in PE and never regretted it; truth to be said, compared to my friends in IB, I lacked on some skills (e.g. ability to produce nice-looking presentations) but I developed other more important skills (fundamental understanding of how businesses works, more focus on modelling).

I see that's fair, so is there no merit in trying to learn some of those skills?

don't mind sharing info, but would rather do it on here so other people can see it and benefit.

Honestly the main thing you learn as a sell-side banker that you wont learn in other finance roles is formatting and how to fill 30+ pages up with bullshit. Formatting also really only matters to that extent if you're on the sell-side though. I really don't think you'll be missing out on much and wouldn't sweat it.
