Software engineering vs Investment Banking

I'm currently in year 12 and I'm planning to pick computer science as an integrated masters to do at uni.

I do want to do both careers eventually in my lifetime but which would be the best to start of with after graduation, Investment Banking or Software Engineering.

And would anyone know the average starting salary for a Software engineer and the average potential salary. (I've heard the salaries on the Internet such as Glassdoor are not accurate)

I'm an American and had offers from both, took banking, but only for the exit opportunities to GE/VC and to position myself a bit more uniquely for those. If you like programming, it's not even a question -- do SWE/APM/TPM at FAANG+ and go to a mid-stage and then early stage company whose direction you like later on; you'll make more money than a career banker.
