Sophomore at a non-target in Ohio looking for advice on breaking into a MM Chicago Bank (William Blair, etc) for Summer 2021

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Like the title says, I am a rising sophomore with a 4.0 GPA at a non target in Ohio. My school was ranked by Bloomberg business week as being a top 100 business school but I know that’s not much to brag about. There’s hardly any networking events available at my school. Barely any (if any at all) alumni in IBD especially in Chicago. Any pointers would be much appreciated. William Blair, Lazard, BMO, Evercore, JPM, GS, Citi are the dream employers. I’m not a diversity candidate either so any advice on the application process to get a SA position would be much appreciated. I know this type of post has been made many times before but I’m curious if the process is any different for Chicago rather than NYC.

Thanks for any responses.

What school is this? Feel free to PM and might be able to help specifically if it is the school I am thinking of.

Regardless, the process isn’t materially different for recruiting from a nontarget for Chicago vs NY. Just be clear about why you want Chicago
