Sophomore Boutique Internship: Hurts Chances?

I'm a sophomore and this fall I will be doing an internship at a small boutique. One thing I have noticed is a not a lot of people with similar internships seem to get super good junior summer roles. My guess is that interviews see "investment banking" on your resume and go harder on you/ask more difficult technical questions. Does anyone else think this is true and if so is it something I should watch out for? Prepare way harder for technicals than others deem necessary?

Unless you lie on your resume about what you did, I don't see how this would be an issue

I would caution you to avoid internships that look like scams (a large number of unpaid interns, no legitimate transactions on website, very easy interview). We see these as huge negatives

Alright thanks, it's definitely not a scam as I heard about it through an older student who previously worked there

A huge negative? I guess if you overplayed it on the reusme but otherwise it just shows your interest which can only help.

Not at all homie. There's plenty of reasonable banks that are going to kickoff their recruiting soon so you having that is huge, but I feel like during your interviews, they will go harder.
