Sophomore internal lateraling
Is it possible to lateral in S&T from a top BB as a sophomore to an investment banking junior summer analyst role?

Some of the soph S&T offers are 2 year offers to begin with, and the timing really does not work - by the time you get an offer in August, the BB has filled just about every IB spot for the next year.
If you're definitely sure on not doing S&T - I'd leverage the name and recruit externally before your soph internship
Would rerecruiting within the same bank be taboo?
Yes because you'd have to do it 3-4 months before your sophomore internship even starts. Definitely not a good look. There are just about zero BB IB spots left by the time you'd be able to do it the "proper" way once the internship is over
Probably depends on the bank. I know several people that did it for the sophomore S&T program I participated in but they didn't reapply to the firm through the normal process - they talked to HR and got interviews with the IB division for the junior summer. I'd imagine it would have been much more difficult if they had just applied to the junior internship program while already having a sophomore offer in another division.
Did they speak to HR before, during, or after the summer?
