Spaniards/French/Italians of WSO: which "you" should I use in interviews?

I have an 2nd round with an Associate for a London position and he speaks the same European language as I do, so we'll probably use it. My question: when speaking with him, should I ask questions using the more informal "tú / tu / tu" or the more formal "usted / vous / lei"?

Italian here. IMO if the age difference is not too drastic you can already start with the first one, nobody notices these things if they're not overly formal, especially in London. If you really want to be formal, start with the second and he will likely tell you to switch as soon as he notices. When I interviewed with italians I always started with the first one since I found that it allowed me to have a more "personal" connection/conversation, I would have used the second only if the interviewer felt very formal, which never happened

Much simpler, less awkward and no one ever told me anything about that. Also has the added benefit of not looking stuck up.
