Sponsors For Educational Opportunity (SEO) Review 2020
Has anyone been a part of SEO? I've read mixed reviews on this site but most threads are from several years ago. Does anyone care to share any info on the program? I'm more interested in if they actually help in getting you an internship (as opposed to the prep course they provide after you've landed an internship).
Thanks! Also, I know it's kind of late to use them for 2021 recruiting. I am trying to get involved for 2022 (my junior summer) Investment Banking recruiting at their partner firms.
They have a resume book which if you get in by performing well in mock interviews is shared with firms so that helps you with exposure and getting interviews. They also have many opportunities that are posted that you can "show interest" which increases your chances.
Thanks. So do you just apply to each place regularly and hope they have shared your resume there? Or do you apply through them?
You do both. So you show interest through the SEO website and apply through the company's website. I'm guessing HR then has a list of SEO students that showed interest and the list isn't that long because you only get to show interest in these opportunities if you get a certain score in the SEO mock interview.
I got multiple interviews through SEO this year with this, but ended up taking an offer at a firm that wasn't connected with SEO. So you don't need SEO to get an offer but the connections and extra exposure only help you.

Not too helpful to get an internship imo. Much better once you get an offer with a partner firm and go through the professional pre-internship training
Now it seems that you mostly have to get the internship on your own merit but they are super helpful in preparing you for the internship, guiding you through the summer and making sure you know all that you need to do to get an offer. They also have many longstanding connections with BB firms that span decades since they've been around for a while.
I would highly recommend SEO, they have a strong network and many connections. They also help you get interviews as well. Most importantly, they give you the guidance needed to be successful in the internship all for FREE.
